The Problem
The migration of Māori to urban areas has been described as one of the quickest movements of any population. Over time, this has led to a widening gap between urban and rural Māori, creating a disconnect between rangatahi and their ancestral lands.

Our Approach
Recognising that pepeha is rich in geographical elements, we explored ways to visualise it, leading to the idea of a 'pepeha trail'. We combined the concept of a pepeha, a traditional oral recitation, with maps, which visually represent an area. This trail connects the key elements of your pepeha on a map, creating a visual journey that links these significant places through lines and paths.
